Children

The goal of our children's area is to promote the development of motor skills, to encourage creative play, to foster parent-child interactions, and to spark the imagination of kids of all ages.

We have six computers with Internet access, office software, and educational software for kids from toddlers to teenagers.

The Friends of the Library donated the upholstered shapes which serve as portable furniture and manipulatives for discovery play.

Our children’s non-fiction is organized by category.  Books in each category have a dot the same color as the sign for that category.  And the categories are..

• Look It Up - dictionaries, encyclopedias
• Let Us Praise - bible stories, religion
• Coping With Life - social issues
• Weird Science - math, science, colors
• Out of This World - aliens, space, planets
• Planet Earth - habitats, weather
• It’s Alive - dinosaurs, animals
• Things That Go - cars, trucks, planes, tanks
• You and Me - manners, the human body, families
• Create & Celebrate - crafts, holidays, arts
• Let’s Play - magic, games, sports
• Tell A Tale - folktales, poetry, plays
• America - geography, history
• Around The Globe - geography, history
